                      Author Interview

Q - What do you do when you are not writing?

A - I spend the majority of the time with my five year old, going to the park or on play dates. She LOVES being outside, so we spend the majority of our time outdoors. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to concerts, shopping - especially for purses! - taking pictures, reading, baking - I make fabulous homemade fudge!

Q - Do you work with an outline or just write?

A - Here's the thing...I attempt to write with an outline but my outlines change so much that I always end up tossing them aside and just writing. Sometimes I will make timelines so that I can see where I am at with the storyline, but that is more so that I can keep myself organized. My writing style is utter chaos *laughs* I don't write in order, I write as things come to me. That would probably drive some people crazy, but it works for me!

Q - Where do you get your ideas?

A - They just come to me. Sometimes it is when I see a picture or hear a song. I always have a notebook with me so that I can jot ideas down wherever I am.

Q - Do you ever get writer's block?

A - ALL. THE. TIME. Hence the reason it is taking me so long to get Jack & Chloe's wedding story out. Sometimes listening to music helps and sometimes I just need to stew over things for a while.

Q. Is there any particular author or books that influenced your life in any way either growing up or as an adult?

A. *laughs* I'm warning you now, this is going to be a looong answer! Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" and Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird." They were two of my favorite books growing up and I still read them all the time today. As an adult...I was introduced to Mitch Albom's work as I was going through a very diffiult time in my life. My grandfather had Parkinson's and he had just passed away. I spent every Sunday with him watching Matlock and I lost a part of myself when I lost him. I was on the horrible end of a downward spiral battling depression when I read "Tuesday's with Morrie." Although, Morrie didn't have Parkinson's, I found that I could really relate to that book. Then I read "Just One More Day." I had myself a good cry after that book and I started to feel better, normal, less alone, more inclined to talk to people about the way I felt. So, I'd have to say that as an adult, Mitch Albom's books have had the greatest impact on me.

Q - How did you chose what genre to write in?

A - I've dabbled here and there with various genres, but romance feels like home to me. I am a romantic at heart. I believe in heart stopping kisses, love at first sight, happily ever afters, alpha males with a sweet spot and geniunely nice guys.

Q - Ia anything in your books real life or is it pure imagination?

A - Both. The antics of the Subzero boys are loosely based on a real punk rock band that I loved in my early twenties. They made this video of themselves pulling pranks on people, nothing mean, it was all good natured, funny stuff and I thought to myself "Can you imagine what their reps think about this stuff!" The way they talk and things they say is based on a friend of mine. The locations, while they may have names of actual places,  are purely figments of my imagination. Same with the characters, they are made up, although I can say that some of them remind me of people I know.

Q - What was your favorite chapter or part to write and why?

A - That is a hard question to answer! I had a lot of favorite parts in "Captivate my Heart" and I have a lot in "Dominate my Heart" but I can't talk about those because the book hasn't come out yet! One of my favorite moments in Captivate my Heart, is when Noah's brother leaves and Caroline walks in as Noah is being destructive and freaking out. He wants her to leave and she refuses to go. We see him as he realizes that she loves him unconditionally, no matter what.

Q - You have mentioned before that you are a journalist...what area do you write in?

A - Well, in Journalism, you have beats - areas that you focus in. My main focus is Human Interest. To date, my favorite article  that I have written is about a local non profit group that collects clothing, shows and other harsh weather supplies and directly delivers them to the homeless. I am best at soft news stories, although, I will admit, I have an interest in investigative journalism because...well...I am nosy!

Q - What are your favorite quotes?

A - I have many but my top two are...

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

"Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Albert Einstein.

Q - Alright, let's get to the fun stuff. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

A. *Evil grin* I am a bit of a prankster myself.

Q - Your current series, Subzero, is about a band...who are your favorite bands?

A - *perks up* Music is a big part of my life. I LOVE Coldplay. They could sing the alphabet, and I would thing it was amazing. I also love You Me At Six, Matthew Mayfield,  Johhny Cash, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, One Republic, The Fray, The Crash Kings, Young Guns, Guiseppe Santa Sauce, AWOLnation...I have an eternal love for 90's rock - Nirvana, Bush, Blink 182, Beck, Garbage, The Breeders, Veruca Salt, Blur, Green Day, Lit, Sublime...I could literally go on all day.

Q - What was the first concert you attended?

A- Don't laugh *covers face with hands* It was Nsync. *laughs* I actually have a funny story from that night. It was Nsync and it was like July...I wore fake leather pants, because, clearly that is what one wears to an Nsync concert! My friends and I walked around in the sweltering heat for an hour trying to find my car after the concert, only to find out that we had been across the street from it the entire time! It was so hot out! I had to peel those pants off before I could get in the car. I drove home in my Nsync shirt and underwear *laughs* What a night... since then I have seen Blink 182, Sum 41, Bush, Lit, Duffy, The Fray, a bunch of local bands and I see Coldplay everytime they come to either Philly or Hershey. Literally. Every. Time.

Q - What is something you are passionate about?

A - Aside from writing? I am a huge supporter for human rights, equal right and animal rights.

Q - If you could date any celebrity, who would it be?

A - I can't name just one! There are so many I drool over! Let's see here...Ian Somerhalder, Rami Malek, Chris Martin, Jude Law, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Joseph Morgan, Cillian Murphy, James McAvoy, Jeremy Renner, Cam Gigandet, Guy Berryman, The Hemsworth brothers (God bless their mother!)...If I was forced to pick just one...hmmm...Cillian Murphy. Have you seen those blue eyes? Seriously! I could get lost in them!
